Tuesday - Day 18 - The longest day and boy was it tough going

I knew today was going to be a tough one so I got up at 5.30 and left at 6. The first few miles from Mevagissey to Par were very uninspiring, but at least they were reasonable easy walking and the weather started cloudy and cool. By the time I got to Par sands I had been lulled into a false sense of security. the sands were easy walking, but as soon as I was on them the sun came out and it was Baking!
The good thing was that by leaving so early I was in Par by 10. This meant I manged to make Fowey by lunchtime. Fowey; what a fantastic place. in a lot of ways it is like Falmouth in miniature but without being so massively touristy. It was the entrance protected by the fortifications and a ferry, but has retained all of the good things without importing too many of the bad.
The views between Fowey and Polperro were immense and I managed quite a few photos. Unfortunately about 2 miles before Polperro and most of the way on to Looe the problem of massively overgrown paths persisted so it was as much as I could do to just concentrate on staying on and finding the path.
Sad that I couldn't spend time in Polperro, but didn't get there until 5pm. I eventually arrived at 7.30 into Looe and was completely pooped.
Tomorrow looks easier and although I will be leaving earlier I hope the path will be in better condition.
